Sun Lakes - Surrounded by his loving family, Herman L. Adams, Jr, age 78, passed away peacefully in his home, after a courageous battle against Leukemia. Herman was born in Kinston, NC to the late Leslie & Annie Estelle (Ervin) Adams. He was drafted into the US Army on October 4, 1961 and served his country with honors for 21 years, 13 of which as a member of Special Forces and the final 5 years as an original team member of Delta...

Sun Lakes - Surrounded by his loving family, Herman L. Adams, Jr, age 78, passed away peacefully in his home, after a courageous battle against Leukemia. Herman was born in Kinston, NC to the late Leslie & Annie Estelle (Ervin) Adams. He was drafted into the US Army on October 4, 1961 and served his country with honors for 21 years, 13 of which as a member of Special Forces and the final 5 years as an original team member of Delta Force. After retiring from the Army, Herman became a Project Manager with Motorola, Government Electronics Division, putting his years of communications/electronics experience to use continuing to support US Army Special Operations for another 18 years. He then went on to work at Sierra Nevada as a consultant for several years.
He had a love for RV'ing, NASCAR and golf, and could often be found at one of his children's homes on a remodeling project. Herman cherished his family, his friends and his two puppies, Juliette and Lacy.

Herman is survived by his wife of 16 years, Evonne Algarate Adams; three children, Deneena Adams Herrera "Bill" of Tucson, AZ, Tracy Adams Reiten "Dave" of Stafford VA, Daniel Scott Adams "Valerie Roberts" of Phoenix, AZ; ten grandchildren, Devon Herrera, Caroline Herrera, Madeline Reiten, David Reiten, Gretchen Reiten, Molly Reiten, Emma Adams, Max Adams, Jack Roberts and Drew Roberts.

In addition to his parents, Herman is preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Rouse Adams of 38 years and a grandson, Kendal Herrera.
We would like to especially thank the doctors and nurses at Mayo Clinic Hospital, for the exceptional care and treatment they provided to Herman.
The family will receive friends Saturday, Aug 12th from 1-2:00 at Sun Lakes Chapel for all Faiths, 9240 E Sun Lakes Blvd. The memorial service will begin at 2:00, followed by a reception at OakWood Country Club, 24218 Oakwood Blvd, Sun Lakes. A Military Honors Burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery, at a date to be determined.
